JAMES EDWARD JAMES JR. '60, of Manteo, N.C., died October 23, 2003. He worked as an engineer for Lockheed in San Francisco before serving in the Coast Guard in 1965. Later he joined the Merchant Marine, obtaining a master's license in 1982, and sailed the world. When he wasn't seafaring, he enjoyed renovating old houses for resale and designing boats. He was a voracious reader and a lifelong railroad buff.
