Orvil (Buster) Hagaman Jr., a field auditor for the State Auditor's office, died Saturday, 6/22/96, at the Youville Hospital in Cambridge of lung cancer. He was 58.

A lifelong Newton resident, Mr. Hagaman graduated from Hebron Academy in Hebron, Maine, and Trinity Pawling Prep School. He attended Harvard College and remained active in fund-raising for the class of 1960.

Mr. Hagaman had worked as an assistant auditor for BayBank for 27 years in its Burlington office before joining the State Auditor's office.

Active with the Newton Jaycees, Mr. Hagaman was a member of the Newton North Gridiron Club, and had been a coach for the Newton Little League. He volunteered for the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon for many years.

He leaves his wife, Mary E. (Richard) Hagaman; two daughters, Michelle E. and Ann, both of West Newton: his mother, Isabel (Carlson) Hagaman of Newton; a sister, Carol Hagaman Smith of Harwich; and several nieces and nephews.
